Sweet Rice without "additives"

One of the most appreciated desserts here at home and with it others are made.


I have many requests for baking, here at home. Either it's pancakes, or it's mashed potatoes, sushi, cookies, chocolate cake and other delicacies. But the one I get asked for the most is #SweetRice.


I don't always do it, but every once in a while I make the beautiful rice pudding. The recipe is my mother's, and it's the best in the world! If I try to make it any other way, wow, they immediately refrain (especially my daughter). So, no pudding, vanilla or any other ingredient that is not in this recipe, because otherwise, nobody eats... Not even me (ahahahahahahah).


But you will make it and see that I'm not kidding, it's really good!

Sweet Rice


Ingredients:

1dl of water

Salt to taste

180g sugar

6 egg yolks

1 litre of milk

1 teacup of rice

1 cinnamon stick

Peel of 1 lemon

1 tablespoon of butter

Cinnamon powder to taste


Preparation:

Bring the water to a boil with salt, butter, lemon peel and cinnamon stick. When it boils, add the rice and stir, letting it boil until it absorbs the water.

Add the milk, divided it four times, and let it boil very well between each addition.

Crumble the egg yolks with a little milk, add a spoonful of the hot rice, mixing well. Add the yolks to the rice, off the heat, pour in the sugar and bring to the boil again to thicken slightly.

Serve sprinkled with cinnamon.


Tip: I always use the egg whites to make the sighs (see recipe)
